Robert Jordan, of the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for Law Enforcement, by the Louisiana Banker’s Association.
Jordan’s nomination stemmed from an investigation involving a romance scam in which a local victim was defrauded of more than $50,000.

Romance scams of this nature are notoriously difficult to investigate, often involving suspects outside the jurisdiction or overseas and leaving victims with little expectation that those responsible will ever be identified.

Through numerous search warrants issued to financial platforms, cellular providers, and other electronic service providers, each new piece of information opened additional investigative avenues.

Sgt. Jordan’s persistence ultimately led to the identification of the primary suspect, leading to an arrest.

His dedication to following the evidence, despite the challenges commonly associated with these investigations, turned a case often considered difficult to solve into a successful criminal investigation.

Jordan’s work on this case demonstrates the persistence and determination required to investigate increasingly complex financial crimes. His willingness to continue following each lead, even as the investigation extended beyond local jurisdiction, ultimately provided the victim with something many victims of romance scams never receive—accountability.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud of Sgt. Jordan’s dedication to this investigation and congratulates him on being recognized by the Louisiana Bankers Association for his efforts.
