🦷✨ DAY 5 OF DR. SNYDER’S MARPE JOURNEY! ✨🦷

Today is a BIG day… it’s officially her FIRST DAY OF TURNS! 🔑😬

After a few days of getting used to having her MARPE in place, Dr. Snyder is ready to start the activation process. Each turn helps the MARPE gradually work to expand her narrow upper jaw and create more space — with the goal of improving function, bite, and potentially her airway. 👃💨

And this time, Dr. Snyder isn’t just the dentist explaining the process… she’s the patient experiencing it herself! 😂

Dr. Snyder officially has her MARPE in! 😬🎉

She recommends MARPE treatment for patients when appropriate—and now she’s getting to experience the process from the OTHER side of the chair!

So… what exactly does a MARPE do? 🤔

MARPE stands for Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion. It is designed to help widen a narrow upper jaw (palate). Creating more space can help:

👃 Improve nasal airflow and breathing
🦷 Create more room for crowded teeth
👅 Give the tongue more space
😁 Improve the way the upper and lower jaws fit together
💤 Support airway-focused treatment when a narrow palate is contributing to breathing concerns

Dr. Snyder has a narrow palate and has experienced difficulty feeling like she can breathe comfortably through her airway, so she decided it was time to experience MARPE treatment herself!

And yes… we fully plan on documenting the journey. 😂
