As Labor Day approaches and many Americans return from vacation or hit the road one last time this season, I'm reminded of an article from earlier this summer about a wholly unique type of trip: dental tourism.

This article from the New Yorker profiles a town in Mexico that caters to Americans seeking dental work done on the cheap.

Just like dental work performed stateside, I've seen up close the handiwork of foreign dentists ranging from the 'hey, that's pretty good', to the 'not too bad', to the straight-up 'no bueno'.

AI: We're talking 'bout X-rays!

To those of a certain age, the mention of 'AI' instantly conjures Allen Iverson. The basketball legend whose skill, swagger and style, always exceeded his diminutive frame.

But to most, AI, or 'artificial intelligence' is the advancement of computers for tasks traditionally requiring human intelligence

Medicine has used AI for years to help doctors interpret radiographs Now that similar technology has made inroads into dentistry, our practice is proud to have incorporated AI-powered dental imaging to assist in diagnosing our patients!

Digital Xrays we take are run through software that uses millions of previous ones, to identify everything from decay, infection and periodontal disease. In essence, AI marks up Xrays, and a doctor interprets the findings to determine if somethings presents as cavity, or merely a concavity.

The results so far have been striking. We've had findings that once may have gone undetected and more accurate visual data in tracking the progress of existing conditions.

Overall, AI-imaging has been a wonderful addition for our patients' preventative and conservative treatment. Ask about it at your next visit!

What can you do in 8 years? You could serve as POTUS for the maximum term. You could compete in the Olympics, train, compete again, train some more and do a 3rd Olympiad.

Since neither of these paths were in the cards for me, I spent 4 years in college and then another 4 studying to become a dentist.

It's also been exactly 8 years to the day since I began seeing patients at my own practice. The time has flown by, but I'm reminded each day how fortunate I am to have patients who trust in me to treat them, and the dedicated staff who still choose to work side-by-side with me each day. 😁

To many more years!

A belated Happy New Year!

After a much-appreciated break over the holidays, returning to work was particularly difficult this year as Denise (pictured below), our long-time insurance coordinator, retired at the end of last year.

Denise had been with the practice for over 30 years at the front desk, greeting patients and helping them navigate the byzantine world of dental insurance

We thank her for her years of hard work and dedication. We wish her the best in retirement, as her presence around the office will be sorely missed!
