We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Dr. Parker’s beloved grandparent, and Cyndy’s father Edwin L Mozley Sr. He was a remarkable person who touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Dr. Parker, Cyndy and their family during this difficult time.
If you were lucky enough to meet him, you already carry the memory of his presence—because he left an impression that stayed, gentle, genuine, deeply caring. Since you’re reading this, I don’t need to tell you how exceptional he was. You already know. What’s harder is finding the words to reflect nearly a century of faithfulness—of devotion not only to his family, but to the quiet work of a life well lived. His strength was steady, his love constant, and his legacy is one that will ripple through generations.
Edwin Lawson Mozley, Sr., a lifelong resident of the Malone, Florida area, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at home, surrounded by his four children. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday on October 14—a milestone eagerly anticipated by everyone who knew him.
Mr. Mozley was known not only as a kind, honest, and true Southern gentleman, but as a man of quiet conviction and deep loyalty. He remained closely connected to the land that has been in the Mozley family for generations. His life was shaped by commitment—to his loved ones, to his heritage, and to doing what was right. In 1986, his family was recognized as a Century Pioneer Farm Family, honoring the strength and continuity of that legacy in the Malone community.
More than anything, Granddaddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his three daughters: Cathy Ann Mozley, Cyndy Mozley Parker, and Carol Pope (and husband, Eric); and his son, Edwin Mozley, Jr.
His legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren—each of whom felt the warmth of his guidance and love. His devotion extended to four generations of nieces and nephews, who knew him as a steady presence and source of encouragement.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ann Sellers Mozley, who left her own remarkable legacy in the Malone community. A longtime teacher in Malone, Ann touched thousands of lives over the course of her career—not only as an educator but as a nurturing mother, neighbor, and friend. Together, Edwin and Ann built a life grounded in family, love, and the bonds of community.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Leslie and Della Anderson Mozley, and by his eight siblings and their spouses.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Malone United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Ham, Rev. Nicole Mayo, and Cole Daum officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Collins Chapel Cemetery in Malone, Florida.
