Over winter break, I had the honor of bringing six CU dental students to Honduras to provide care for children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to dentistry.

We spent the week at Clínica Esperanza; this time with their brand new mobile dental bus. Instead of a traditional clinic filled with drills and shots, we were able to meet kids where they are: at schools and in rural communities. To them, it’s just a colorful, fun bus… not something scary. For many, it was their very first dental visit.

We provided exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and toothbrushing education; but more importantly, we helped create positive first experiences that can prevent a lifetime of dental fear and neglect.

We also wrapped and distributed hundreds of gifts, which for some children would be the only present they received this season.

Watching these brilliant, compassionate students witness the need firsthand, and commit to a lifetime of service, might be the most meaningful part of all. Grateful to do this work together. 🌎🦷
