Every year, staff from across all of Harbor’s programs and locations nominate fellow team members in recognition of their excellent work during the past year. During a special lunch celebration, Harbor Health’s President and CEO Susan Yee (fourth from left in the photo with many of our award winners) expressed our shared gratitude for the way our award winners have shown care and commitment to our patients, participants, and communities. Harbor Health will join with other Cape Cod community organizations in recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day during a beach memorial event on Monday, August 31 at 5:30 pm on Smugglers Beach, 220 South Street, South Yarmouth. Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis will host a resource table with information about the recovery services we offer at the health center. All are welcome.

It’s National Health Center Week!! This week, the National Association of Community Health Centers and community health centers around the country are celebrating the work our organizations do to make sure everyone can get the healthcare services they need! From serving a handful of communities to now reaching 1 in 7 Americans, community health centers today are in rural, suburban, and urban areas. We serve everyone, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status - all are welcome! ❤

Harbor Health Services, Inc. and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers recently hosted Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Kiame Mahaniah and a government delegation from Denmark at our Harbor Health Elder Service Plan Day Center. The Danish delegation was very interested in learning more about community health centers in the U.S. and the community-based care Harbor’s Elder Service Plan provides to elders with complex health needs.

With National Community Health Center Week just a few weeks away on August 2-8, we were excited for the opportunity to highlight the programs and services community health organizations like Harbor Health provide to all ages and our collective work to build innovative care where it matters most!

Harbor Community Health Center- Hyannis welcomed State Senator Julian Cyr for a visit this week! During his visit, Senator Cyr spoke with our medical, behavioral health, and dental care teams to learn more about their work with patients and what they see as important needs in the community. Harbor Health is excited to be a part of the upcoming Multilingual Learner Parent Advisory Council (MLPAC) Community Resources Fair on Monday, March 23 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the D-Y High School Library!! All are welcome to come and learn about services and programs available in our community. Sixty years ago, Dr. Jack Geiger and Dr. Count Gibson opened the Columbia Point Health Center, now Harbor Health's Geiger Gibson Community Health Center. It was the first community health center in the country, built on the belief that better healthcare access could help communities overcome poverty and gain greater voice in their own wellbeing.

Thank you to all of our patients for your understanding while we waited for power to be restored to our building. And a big shout out to all the dedicated members of our team at Ellen Jones - we also appreciate your patience, flexibility, and help with patient care as our community recovers from the winter storm.❤️
