We would like to take a moment to send out our appreciation to our patient who mentioned how he loves the office and staff, how the office feels very calming and loves that we use essential oil. Today June 14th, is national flag day. This day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. We all fly our flag with pride to celebrate, even if it isn't a federal holiday we would still like to shed light on the time and effort it took to create the beautiful flag we have today.

Tooth enamel is even harder than the bones in your body. According to the Moh's Hardness Scale it scores a 5 out of 10, which is similar to the hardness of steel and titanium. Enamel is what helps to protect our teeth from the forces of biting, tearing, and chewing.

Although tooth enamel is incredibly strong, it can be weakened over time if you do not properly care for your teeth. It is often acidic foods and drinks that can contribute to this weakening, but brushing regularly will help to reduce these effects.

Happy National Donut Day! There's nothing wrong with enjoying a sweet treat every now and then. We recommend having them with a meal, drinking plenty of water, and brushing about 30-60 minutes after eating. So go ahead and pick up one of your favorite donuts today!

What exactly does a prosthodontist specialize in? Great question!

Prosthodonist do everything that a general dentist does but what really makes them so different is their proficiency in cosmetics, dental implants (as shown above), crowns, bridges, dentures, TMJ, and more.

Today we are going to focus on DENTAL IMPLANTS and how they are the closest resemblance to a natural tooth! An implant is a metal anchor that is placed in the jawbone. Once integrated with your bone, the implant can be used to support a crown, as shown above.

Here's how it works...
1. Bone grafting: this creates a more solid base for the implant at the jaw
2. Place dental implant: a hole is drilled into the bone where the metal post will be placed. This post will resemble the root of your natural tooth, this screw will then be implanted into the bone of your jaw.
3. Osseointegration process begins: During this time the jawbone will grow into and integrate with the surface of the dental implant. this process can take up to 3 months
4. Placing abutment: As shown above, it is the piece that goes inside of the screw.
5. Impressions may be made throughout your process, but after all this we want to get the impressions for your new artificial tooth! Which will be placed on top of the abutment as shown above.

Today we remember those who fought for our freedom...

May we never forget that freedom isn't free. Fallen... but never forgotten as we take this day to embrace and recognize the sacrifice of many, in memory of them all. We are truly grateful and give thanks to all those who served the nation and are no longer with us.

May we enjoy this day, while acknowledging what it is really about.
