Ever wonder why your "free cleaning" isn't always free? 🤔

Here's the deal: a regular prophy (routine cleaning) and a perio maintenance are two different treatments, not just two names for the same thing. If you've had gum disease or periodontal treatment in the past, your cleanings switch to perio maintenance, and insurance often treats that differently than a standard cleaning, even if your plan says "2 free cleanings a year."

It's not us trying to nickel and dime you. It's how dental insurance codes work, and we always want you to understand why before you're ever surprised by a bill.

If dental anxiety has ever kept you from booking a cleaning, we want you to meet Bailey.

Bailey is our hygienist here at Forever Teeth, and before she even picks up a tool, she gives nervous patients something most offices skip: control. She has them raise their left hand as their "stop sign." Anytime during the cleaning, if they need a break, whether it's mental (feeling overwhelmed) or physical (jaw getting tired, gag reflex kicking in), all they have to do is raise that hand and she stops right away. No questions, no rushing, no pushing through it.

It sounds simple, but for a lot of patients it changes everything. So much dental anxiety comes from feeling stuck in the chair with no way out. Once people realize they have a say in what happens and when, they relax. Some patients use the stop sign once or twice. Some never need it at all, just knowing it's there is enough.

This is for every anxious patient who walks through our door, not just kids, not just first timers. Adults get scared at the dentist too, and there's zero judgment here.

Just a heads up, Decatur! Our office will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Dr. Dang and the whole team are taking the day to recharge and spend time with their families, something we know a lot of you are doing too.

We'll be back to our normal hours starting Wednesday, September 9th. If you need to reach us before then, give us a call and we'll get back to you as soon as we're open.
