Your oral health and overall health are more connected than you may realize. 💜

Diabetes and gum health have a two-way relationship: elevated blood sugar can make it harder for the body to manage inflammation and infection, increasing the risk and severity of periodontal (gum) disease. In turn, chronic inflammation from periodontal disease may make blood sugar more difficult to manage.

The encouraging part? Taking care of your gums is one more way to support your overall health. Regular dental visits allow us to monitor for early signs of gum disease, provide treatment when needed, and work alongside your medical care.

If you have diabetes, please feel comfortable sharing that with us—including any changes in your medications or A1C. There’s no judgment and no lecture—just important information that helps us provide care tailored to you. 🦷💜
