The year-end dental rush does not start in December. It starts now. Before calendars close in, here are a few things to check:

🔹How much of your annual benefit is left, and whether it resets January 1
🔹Any FSA deadline or carryover limit, since these vary by employer
🔹Treatment we already recommended that has not been booked

Coverage differs more than most people assume. HSA balances generally roll forward, while FSA funds and annual maximums often do not. Your benefits administrator can confirm what applies to you.

What builds up on your teeth is not a random film. It is biofilm, a structured community of bacteria that anchors itself to enamel, restorations, and the space just under your gumline, and it protects itself once established.

Our team uses Guided Biofilm Therapy with EMS Airflow technology, and the process begins by making the biofilm visible with a disclosing agent. You see exactly where it has collected, which is often not where patients expect. We use warm water and a fine powder to remove it, with ultrasonic scaling only where it is necessary.

There is less scraping and less sensitivity. It is safe around implants, crowns, veneers, and braces, which is where the hardest-to-reach spots tend to be.

Your gums shouldn’t bleed when you brush your teeth. That symptom gets shrugged off constantly, and it usually shouldn't.

September is National Gum Care Month, a good moment to know what deserves attention:

🔹Blood in the sink, even a trace
🔹Swelling, redness, or tenderness along the gumline
🔹Gums pulling away from a tooth, or teeth that look longer than they used to
🔹Bad breath that does not clear up
🔹A tooth that feels slightly loose

Plenty of factors feed into this: plaque that never fully comes off, an inconsistent routine at home, certain medications, diabetes, smoking, even genetics. The encouraging part is that early inflammation is far more manageable than advanced periodontal disease, and catching it takes one appointment.

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise money for Smiles for Life this year! We exceeded our goal of $10,000 by raising $11,521 which made us one of the top 10 offices in the country!!👍It also meant PIES TO THE FACE for our doctors! 🥧 ….they were great sports😉 We can’t wait to give our local charity FeedNC their portion of the money raised.
