Dear Patients, Families, and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well. It is with a mix of excitement and heartfelt emotion that I share some significant news regarding my professional journey. I will soon embark on a new role as the Chair of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of the Pacific (UOP). This opportunity will enable me to contribute to the field of pediatric dentistry in new and impactful ways, particularly in advancing care for children with special needs.

While I am excited about this new chapter, I am also saddened to share that my clinical hours at our practice will be significantly reduced. Although I will continue to be part of the family we have built here, my role will shift more towards teaching and less towards direct patient care. It has been an incredible privilege to care for your children and to be a part of their dental health journey. I have cherished every interaction and deeply appreciate the trust you have placed in me.

I am delighted to announce that my close friend and colleague, Dr. Don Schmitt, will be taking over most of my patient care interactions. Dr. Schmitt has been my partner in this practice for over 15 years and has recently served as President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD) and is currently on the Board of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). His leadership and dedication to pediatric dentistry are very well recognized among our academic and professional peers. I have complete confidence in his expertise and compassionate care. Since we began teaching together at UOP in 2009, Dr. Schmitt has been a mentor and source of inspiration.

Dr. Schmitt and I have worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition. He is thoroughly acquainted with your children's dental histories and is fully prepared to maintain the high standard of care you have come to expect. Your appointments will remain as scheduled, and all our staff will be the same, with the only change being that you will likely see Dr. Schmitt instead of me.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for the support and trust you have extended to me throughout the years. It has been a true joy to witness your children's growth and smiles. I am confident that Dr. Schmitt will continue to provide the same level of dedication and care that you have experienced with me.

Dear Drs. Schmitt & Saini Pediatric Dentistry family and friends,

Please join me in congratulating our very own Dr. Don Schmitt as he achieved two significant milestones this year that fill our office with immense pride. Dr. Schmitt is currently serving as the 2023-24 President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and has also been appointed as the next Western District Trustee representing 11 Western States and 5 Canadian provinces on the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Board of Trustees for the term spanning 2024-2027. These roles are the latest recognition of a lifelong dedication that betters our profession, our practice, and our local community.

I can't help but think how proud Dr. Schmitt's father would be.
Dr. Leonard Schmitt, a pediatric dentist who founded our office in 1959, would undoubtedly be overjoyed to see how his son has not only carried on the family legacy but has far exceeded any expectations.

Dr. Schmitt's journey in dentistry began with an undergraduate degree from Cal followed by graduation from the Arthur A. Dugoni University of the Pacific Dental School. Dr. Schmitt then successfully completed his Pediatric Dentistry residency at USC. He later earned the esteemed titles of Diplomate from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Since 2001, Dr. Schmitt has been a devoted faculty member at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in the Pediatric Department.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Schmitt has dedicated himself to numerous organizations, having served as Treasurer and on the Executive Committee of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry for over ten years. He is also an active member of the Danville Rotary and is on the Danville Rotary Foundation Board.

This year, Dr. Schmitt's dedication reached new heights with two prestigious appointments that underscore his unwavering commitment to our profession. I am honored to be his partner in practice and our patients benefit from his leadership, his service to our community, and the office family he has created!

Our 9th annual Halloween Candy buy-back is now in progress! Bring us your candy and you'll get $1 for every pound, up to 10 pounds. The school whose students with the most participation will receive a $200 donation from Drs. Schmitt and Saini- Pediatric Dentistry, Danville CA. We are accepting candy until Nov. 11th at both our Danville and Concord offices. All candy gets given to the BLUE STAR MOMS who will ship it to the military.

Dear friends and family,
We understand you may have questions regarding mask requirements in our dental office with the recent changes to California’s mask mandate. Those mask changes for California, effective June 15, 2021, do not apply to healthcare settings. Therefore, we ask that all patients and visitors continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing during their appointment, except when seated in the patient chair during treatment.
We have adopted our policies to comply with the CDC guidance for health care settings. The guidance states that face coverings and social distancing are still required for all individuals in health care settings, including dental offices, regardless of their vaccination status.
In our practice, we believe in putting the health and safety of our dental patients first and have always adopted the most cautious approach regarding government and health officials’ recommendations in response to the pandemic. We thank you all for your understanding and patience as we work diligently to protect the health and safety of our patients and dental team during these challenging times.

Diablo on April 5th. His goal is to raise enough money to provide complete dental care to 800 children in need!
