In a time of global upheaval, investors are looking for safe havens. Will America continue to be that place at a time when major policy decisions come and go with the stroke of a pen — or as Mark Carney recently put it, a pencil?

A video making the rounds featuring Bloomberg former top editor Matt Winkler offers some noteworthy insight on the Canadian investment landscape. As he says: “This is one of the greatest periods for overseas investment in Canada that we’ve seen in the century.” Since March 2025 “Canada has outperformed everyone, in America and also the Eurozone and anywhere in the world. Of the 10 largest stock markets in the world Canada appreciated the most, more than 40 percent.”

Next week's much anticipated Canada Investment Summit, hosted by Carney, may be the ultimate test of Canada's new appeal.

Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Matt Winkler explains what ...

The economic buzzword of 2025 was uncertainty, with the arrival of tariffs and Trump’s trade war. This year, it seems to have been replaced by a new word: resiliency.

The tariff threat looms larger than ever. Still, after months of turmoil, Canada is not in the depths of a recession. Investors are lining up to put money in Canada and major projects. Canadians are in an ‘elbows-up’ kind of mood. And by some key measures, Canada is healthier than the U.S., whose cost to borrow money sat at 4.7 percent at the end of August compared to Canada’s 3.7 percent.

There’s still pain ahead, and some regions will be hit hard. But we have weathered an unprecedented storm and emerged united around a common cause — protecting our economy and interests.

You don't need someone who can predict the future.

You need a plan for when the future doesn't unfold the way you expected.

According to a recent survey, 79% of people working with a financial professional feel confident about their financial future.

For those who don't, that number falls to 59%.

The difference isn't market predictions.

It's having someone help you connect the dots.

Retirement planning. Taxes. Investments. Estate planning. Insurance. Cash flow.

Individually, each piece matters.

Together, they create a roadmap.

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping clients see the bigger picture and make decisions with confidence.

We can't control the markets.

We can't control every curveball life throws at us.

But we can build a plan that helps us navigate both.

That's what financial planning is really about.

Your habits become your results. Good or bad.

Your financial future isn't built by one big decision.

It's built by the habits you repeat.

Saving every month.

Reviewing your finances.

Living below your means.

Investing consistently.

Sticking to your plan when markets feel uncertain.

None of these decisions feel significant on their own.

But together...

They shape your future.

Compound interest is a lot like going to Costco.

One little trip somehow turns into a very big cart.

The difference is, compound interest is actually doing you a favor.

People often think financial success comes from picking the perfect investment.

More often, it comes from building the right habits.

Because wealth isn't created by what you do once.

It's created by what you do consistently.

They say it takes a village.

Last night, we saw that village in action.

A room full of people who chose generosity over convenience and hope over fear came together to
lift Erin Meisner as she continues her courageous journey toward Fight for the Cure.

Last night's In Her Corner fundraiser at Showroom Lighting and Furniture was an incredible
success, rallying community support behind Erin as she prepares to step into the ring this October
for Fight for the Cure. Erin is one of 14 local community leaders dedicating months of intensive training to step into the ring in support of cancer research and care. Their commitment, grit, and heart were felt in every conversation, every donation, and every moment shared.

The main event will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa, where Erin and her fellow fighters will showcase the results of their hard work — all in the name of fighting for a cure.

The current fundraising goal stands at $820,000, directly supporting cancer care in our community.
Watching Erin push past her comfort zone and train for a full boxing match is nothing short of inspiring. Her determination reminds us why this cause matters and why community support is so powerful.

Erin, we could not be prouder to stand In Your Corner.

For as long as I can remember, success seemed to come with the same advice.

The early bird gets the worm. Wake up before everyone else.

Be disciplined.

Get to the gym before 6 AM.

Work hard, and success will follow.

It took me until my 30s to realize I'd been focusing on the wrong part of the advice.

Waking up early wasn't the point.

Learning to take action without having all the answers was.

That lesson shows up in financial decisions all the time.

So many people wait for the "perfect" moment before they invest, retire, change careers, or
make a financial plan.

They want certainty.

One more article. One more opinion. One more year.

Our brains are designed to protect us from making mistakes. Unfortunately, they don't do a
very good job of warning us about the cost of doing nothing.

The problem is that inaction is still a decision.

And waiting has a cost too.

I've found that confidence rarely comes first.

Confidence comes after action. After taking the first step.

After seeing that you can adapt when life doesn't unfold exactly as you expected.

No financial decision comes with a guarantee. But having a thoughtful plan and being
willing to move forward before everything feels certain is often what creates progress.

And yes...

You'll still find me in the gym before 6 AM.

Not because I believe that's the secret to success.

But because every morning is a reminder that progress begins with showing up, taking the
first step, and trusting yourself to figure out the rest.

Ladies, you don't need permission.

Stop waiting for the perfect moment to take action.

Investing isn't a boys club (even though it's presented that way to us).

You don't need to become an expert first before you start making your money work for you.

Because this may be a surprise, but confidence rarely comes first.

Experience does.

No one expects you to know everything before buying your first home, starting a new job, or
becoming a mother.

So why do we expect ourselves to be investing experts before we invest?

While you're waiting for certainty, time keeps moving.

Opportunities keep getting missed.

Your money sits still.

Inflation chips away at its purchasing power.

The women who build wealth aren't fearless.

They ask questions.

They seek good advice.

They make informed decisions.

And they understand that confidence isn't something you wait for.

It's something that happens naturally by getting started.

Reach out, I'll talk you through the basics, and we'll build that confidence together.
