This weekend, I had the privilege of serving at the Dental Mission at Fielder Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. It is always a blessing to care for those in need, but this mission was extra special.
By pure coincidence, I reconnected with one of my classmates 29 years after graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry! I also had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful dental colleagues and students who volunteered their time to serve our community.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chris Truong for organizing this incredible mission—not only to provide much-needed dental care to 250 patients, but also to inspire college students with the joy of serving the community and to give them valuable exposure to the profession.
My heart is full of gratitude for the opportunity to serve, reconnect, make new friendships, and give back. ❤️🦷🙏

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who is blessed to still have their mom with them. Cherish every moment. ❤️ 🌸

This Mother’s Day is especially meaningful for me because of my amazing mother, who is now 93 years old. She was raised in a farming family in Vietnam with very little education, yet she always dreamed that I would become a doctor one day.

Many years ago, my mother and I escaped Vietnam by boat so I could have the opportunity for a better education and a brighter future. Through God’s grace, that dream became reality.

At 93, she is still incredibly strong physically and mentally. However, caring for her has become more challenging since she became legally blind a few years ago. Even though she can no longer see clearly, she continues to inspire me every day with her strength, resilience, and unconditional love.

One thing I always wanted to do for her was restore her smile. Recently, I was finally able to complete a full mouth rehabilitation for her as my Mother’s Day gift. It was not easy — working on her for an entire day at 93 years old was very challenging — but she did it with strength and determination. She may not be able to see her beautiful new teeth, but she can feel them, and hearing her laugh with joy and confidence again touched my heart more than words can express.
Mom, thank you for every sacrifice you made for me. I love you so much, and I thank God every day for you. ❤️
