Our dental practice has a rich and proud history of serving the Forsyth County community for more than 80 years. What began as the county’s first full-time dental practice has grown and evolved through generations of dedicated dentists, while maintaining a commitment to providing exceptional dental care to the families of our community.
In April 1946, Dr. A.Y. Howell, a young dentist from Boone, North Carolina, moved to Cu***ng after graduating from Emory Dental School. He established the first full-time dental practice in Forsyth County. His original office was located on the north side of the Courthouse Square, in offices beneath the old gymnasium.
In 1956, Dr. Howell moved the practice to 324 Dahlonega Street, where it continued to serve the growing Cu***ng community.
In 1978, Dr. Edward J. Rohmer joined the practice, followed by Dr. Robert M. Joiner in 1985. After Dr. Joiner purchased the practices of Dr. Rohmer and Dr. Miller, the practice relocated to 336 Dahlonega Street and became known as Advanced Dental Associates.
The practice continued to grow with the addition of Dr. Scott Henderson in 1998 and Dr. Kenneth Wyatt as an associate in 2014. In 2021, Dr. Brodie Orr joined the practice, and that same year, Dr. Porres retired after years of dedicated service to our patients and the Forsyth County community.
In 2026, we welcomed Dr. Lauren Shefrin to the practice, continuing the tradition of bringing talented and compassionate dental professionals together to serve our community.
Today, Advanced Dental Associates continues to grow alongside Forsyth County and is proud to call the Centre Court Professional Building in Cu***ng home. While our location and team have evolved throughout the decades, our commitment remains the same: providing exceptional, compassionate dental care while building lasting relationships with the families we serve.
We are honored to carry forward a legacy that began in 1946 and look forward to continuing that tradition for generations to come.
