Lucy started with a pronated foot position, up on her tip toes, and with her forefoot abducted. Forefoot abduction is being able to see too many toes when looking at the child from behind. With her new SMOs, Lucy stood with her heels in neutral alignment and her heels were down on the ground. Additionally, her forefoot alignment improved, and you could no longer see her toes when looking from behind.

We are so proud of our friend! We have watched him grow and work so hard to become an independent walker with his SMOs. He started off with solid ankle AFOs and his walker, graduated to hinged AFOs with his walker, and is now walking independently with SMOs. Way to go!!
