We love celebrating wins in our office—especially when they’re this big!

For those of you who haven’t had the privilege of meeting Rachel, she is one of our all-star dental hygienists. She splits her time between our office and working with a specialist in Kearney, always going above and beyond for her patients.

Over the past year, Rachel has dedicated countless hours to continuing education with the goal of becoming certified in myofunctional therapy—a process that takes true time, focus, and commitment. We’re so excited to share that she has officially achieved her certification!

You may also see her working alongside Julie at Air Excellence OMT as she continues helping patients in this specialized area.

This accomplishment not only reflects Rachel’s dedication to growth, but it also allows her to better serve her hygiene patients by identifying and addressing potential oral and muscular function concerns.

It’s been a busy month here at Ide Family Dental, and while we’ve been a little quiet on social media, we’ve had some exciting things happening behind the scenes! 🦷

At the beginning of the month, we welcomed Dr. Amanda to our team. She has been an amazing addition, and her presence has allowed us to open up more appointments for new patients while continuing to provide the high-quality care our current patients deserve.

You may also notice a few new friendly faces around the office! We’ve added some wonderful team members over the past few months to help keep everything running smoothly and ensure the best experience for our patients.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome a new hygienist in mid-June, which will allow us to expand even further and offer more appointment availability.

We’re also thrilled to officially launch Breathe Well Nebraska—focused on all things sleep-related. This addition allows us to help patients feel and sleep better, including offering oral appliance options for those who may be CPAP intolerant. Stay tuned for more updates on this in the coming months!

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Amanda Stapleman to our dental family!

A Cozad native, Dr. Stapleman is excited to return home and bring her exceptional care, kindness, and passion for dentistry to our patients. Her addition allows us to continue improving access to care for our community and surrounding areas while strengthening a team dedicated to raising the standard of your dental experience. Dr. Stapleman will be joining our office starting March—we can’t wait for you to meet her!

“I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve the community I grew up in. After graduating from UNMC College of Dentistry in 2022, my husband’s career moved us to Georgia where I gained experience in pediatrics working alongside pediatric dentists for two years. I returned to general dentistry where I served patients of all ages and found my passion in helping those with dental anxiety and trying to make each patient as comfortable as possible. Big news at Ide Family Dental!

Starting in January, we’re excited to offer home sleep tests as part of our commitment to improving airway and sleep health in our office and in our community

Sleep apnea is often underdiagnosed—especially in rural areas where access to care and medical insurance barriers exist—so our goal is to make screening quicker, easier, and more accessible for our patients. With home testing, you can get valuable insight into your sleep right from the comfort of your own bed.

We’ll continue working hand in hand with medical doctors to ensure accurate diagnosis and to help find the best treatment options for everyone.

At Ide Family Dental, we’re always looking for ways to break down barriers to care and bring much-needed services closer to home.

Did you know your dentist and your myofunctional therapist make an amazing team? Keep reading for how we achieve this.

1. Identifying Airway + Functional Issues
Dentists often spot early signs of dysfunction during routine exams—mouth breathing, tongue-tie, narrow arches, and sleep-disordered breathing. Organizations like the American Dental Association increasingly emphasize the importance of identifying these concerns early.
Myofunctional therapists then perform a deeper functional evaluation, looking at tongue posture, swallowing, and oral muscle patterns.

2. Creating a Team-Based Treatment Plan
Once issues are identified, myofunctional therapists and myself work together to create a plan that supports:
• Nasal breathing
• Correct tongue posture
• Proper swallowing mechanics
• Strong, coordinated facial/oral muscles
The myofunctional therapists we work with are trained with hundreds of hours of continuing education. We have both in person and virtual therapists available.

3. Supporting Airway-Focused Dentistry
For patients undergoing:
• Orthodontics
• Expansion
• Sleep apnea treatments
• Tongue-tie release
…myofunctional therapy strengthens the muscles needed to stabilize the results. This reduces relapse and enhances long-term outcomes.
