🩺 Did you know your dentist is an important part of your healthcare team? 🦷

Before certain surgeries or medical treatments, your physician may request a dental clearance to make sure there are no active dental infections or untreated gum disease that could increase the risk of complications.

Conditions like:
• ❤️ Heart surgery
• 🦴 Joint replacements
• 🎗️ Chemotherapy or radiation
• 🫁 Organ transplants

And other major medical procedures may require a dental evaluation before treatment can safely move forward.

In some cases, medical procedures are even postponed until dental issues have been treated.

Your mouth is connected to the rest of your body, which is why maintaining good oral health is about more than having a beautiful smile, it's an important part of protecting your overall health!

👀 If your floss never goes below your gums... you're probably not flossing effectively.

Did you know your toothbrush only cleans about 60% of your tooth surfaces? The other 40% is where floss does the work.

Plaque and bacteria love to hide just beneath the gumline and between your teeth, areas your toothbrush simply can't reach.

When you floss, gently slide the floss just below the gumline, curve it into a "C" shape around each tooth, and clean both sides before moving to the next tooth.

It only takes a minute a day, but it can help prevent cavities between the teeth, gingivitis, bad breath, and gum disease.

Your smile (and your gums!) will thank you. 🦷😄
