After years of caring for countless smiles, our very own Christine Howell is retiring!

For years, she’s cared for our patients with compassion, laughter, and a heart that made everyone feel at ease. She didn’t just clean teeth she built relationships, earned trust, and made our office a brighter place every single day.

While we’ll miss seeing her in the hallway and hearing her laugh, we’re so excited for her to enjoy this next season of life.

Christine wanted to share about her career in Dentistry:

“Well, after thirty two years combined, I have retired from dentistry.
At the age of sixteen I became interested in dentistry during a hygiene appointment at Dr Estep's office in Athens. That same hygienist was one of my teachers at Tyler Junior College years later!
I first became a Certified Dental Assistant and worked in Arlington and Houston. I moved back to Kerens and found the pay scale, at that time, for CDA was low in Navarro County, so I worked many different jobs before pursuing my passion.
In 1998, I graduated from TJC with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene and passed the State Board exams to become a Registered Dental Hygienist.
I can say dental hygiene is my passion and I have truly enjoyed the past 28 yrs. Retiring from a profression you truly love is difficult and leaving patients is more difficult.
However, I know my patients are in good care with Stephanie, Jourdan, Diana, Aaron and Ana at Navarro Dental Center.❤️”

This all started with a simple question from a grandchild: “Pops, why are your teeth yellow and broken?”

After years of hiding his smile, struggling to chew most foods, and dealing with ongoing dental and TMJ pain, Mr. Vickery decided it was time for a change.

His condition had been gradually worsening, and his options were becoming more limited. He had been told elsewhere that the only solution was to remove all of his teeth and proceed with implants, but he wasn’t fully comfortable with that approach.

Although the crowns of his teeth showed significant wear, his root structure and overall support were still strong. After a thorough evaluation, we discussed a full-mouth rehabilitation focused on preserving his natural teeth whenever possible while restoring function, comfort, and long-term stability.

We reviewed all options carefully, and Mr. Vickery chose to move forward with treatment.

The results speak for themselves—not only aesthetically, but functionally. He has reported improved chewing ability, better sleep, reduced headaches, and a significant boost in confidence since completing treatment.

Every case is unique, and not all situations are as complex as Mr. Vickery’s. At Navarro Dental Center, we are committed to treating even the most challenging cases with compassion, precision, and experience.

Mr. Vickery often shares how much this has improved his life—and his only regret is not doing it sooner.

Our goal is always to help you understand why a specific cleaning is being recommended for your oral health needs.

Your oral health is connected to your overall health. Routine dental health visits can catch cavities, gum disease, and detect early issues.

Every smile deserves personalized care, from routine preventative cleanings to deeper periodontal therapy. Your hygienist diagnoses the treatment you need based off evaluation of your gum measurements, bone levels, diagnostic X-rays, and clinical findings.

Prophy - short for prophylactic - which is a preventative cleaning to remove tartar above the gum line. Performed every 6 months to stay healthy.

Scaling and Root Planing - deep cleaning - in the presence of active periodontal disease. Performed in 2 visits with anesthetics to reach tartar on the roots and near the bone to arrest progress.

Periodontal Maintenance is periodontal disease management to prevent reoccurrence. Performed every 3 months.
