South Texas Sleep Apnea and TMJ Treating chronic TMJ/Facial pain and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Sleep Apnea and TMJ are intimately related problems of the jaw and airway.

Treatment of either disease should take into account the probable existence of the other malady. Oral devices which are FDA approved can be used to successfully treat these quality of life diseases but require a lifestyle that allow improvement. Poor sleep, bad eating habits, excessive stress and pre-existing conditions like back injuries, medication addiction, poor posture, et al must be addressed for a successful outcome.

Poor sleep and TMJ/TMD increase inflammation. Vagus nerve stimulation by Yoga, exercise etc. can reduce the pain to manageable levels. Just treating sleep apnea reduces total body inflammation.

Stimulating the vagus nerve reduces inflammation and the symptoms of arthritis.

Large amounts of artificial sweeteners interfere with the gut's response to glucose, increasing both glucose absorption and glycemic response and inhibiting production of GLP-1.

Inadequate sleep can quickly sabotage your efforts at getting healthy and losing weight. Sleep is a major cornerstone for an energetic, joyful, healthy life. Not getting enough sleep or getting poor-quality sleep adversely affects hormones that make you hungry and store fat.
