Now your dentist AND your cardiologist may have a reason to high-five you for flossing. 🙌

According to research from the International Stroke Conference 2025, people who flossed at least once a week had a lower risk for strokes caused by blood clots coming from the heart. They also had a lower risk for atrial fibrillation, or AFib, an irregular heart rhythm that can lead to a stroke.

Flossing can help prevent gum disease and oral infections. These are linked to inflammation, which may contribute to hardened arteries and an increased risk of stroke. The research is still preliminary, but there’s really no downside to adding flossing at least once a week to your healthy routine.

Sugar isn’t the only dietary factor that can damage your smile. Highly acidic foods and drinks wear away your teeth’s protective enamel, opening the door for bacteria that can cause cavities. To protect your teeth, eat nutritious acidic foods (like tomatoes or citrus fruits) as part of a meal while limiting or avoiding acidic beverages (like soft drinks and citrus-flavored juices). It’s taken us a few weeks to put this into words because we’re truly so sad to see her go, but please help us in sending our heartfelt congratulations to Kristy on her retirement from the dental field! 🦷✨

To say Kristy will be missed feels like such an understatement. For many years, she has been such a special part of our office — not only caring for our patients with so much kindness and compassion but also bringing laughter and much-needed comic relief on even the most chaotic days. She has touched the lives of so many people, and our office simply won’t be the same without her.
Kristy, we are so excited for you as you begin this new chapter. We have no doubt she will make just as big of an impact in the classroom as she has in dentistry.

Kristy, thank you for the years of dedication, friendship, and love you poured into this office and into every patient you cared for. We are beyond grateful for you, and while we will miss you more than words can say, we are cheering you on every step of the way.

Congratulations on your retirement from dental hygiene and on this beautiful new journey ahead. You will always be part of our dental family, and we love you so much.
