Hey you!! 💥📣 Yeah you! 😁 Are you brushing too hard? 😬

🪥 Tooth Talk Tuesday 🪥from your friends at Grace Family Dentistry ❤️

When it comes to brushing, harder does NOT mean cleaner!

Brushing with too much pressure can contribute to:
🦷 Gum recession
🦷 Tooth sensitivity
🦷 Wear near the gumline

For a healthy clean:
✨ Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
✨ Use gentle pressure
✨ Brush for 2 minutes, twice a day
✨ Let your toothbrush do the work!

💡 Quick tip: If the bristles on your toothbrush are fraying or flattening long before it’s time to replace it, you may be brushing too hard!

Be gentle with that smile! 😁🩵

🦷 Myth vs. Fact Monday

❌ MYTH: Whitening toothpaste can whiten crowns, veneers, and fillings.

✅ FACT: Whitening products can help remove surface stains from natural teeth, but they cannot change the color of crowns, veneers, or tooth-colored fillings.

Dental restorations are made from materials that don’t respond to whitening the same way natural tooth enamel does. 🦷✨

Thinking about whitening your smile? It’s a good idea to talk with your dentist first—especially if you have restorations in visible areas. We can help you choose the best option for a natural, even-looking smile! 😁

🦷 Oral Health Fact Thursday 🦷

Did you know? 🤔

🦷 Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body; even stronger than bone!

Enamel is your teeth’s first line of defense, protecting them from daily chewing, biting, and temperature changes. But while it’s incredibly strong, it can’t regenerate once it’s damaged.

Help protect your enamel by:
✨ Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
🪥 Flossing daily
🥤 Limiting sugary and acidic foods and drinks
😁 Keeping up with your regular dental checkups and cleanings

A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping your smile healthy for life! 💙

🪥 Tooth Talk Tuesday 🪥

What Causes Bad Breath? 🤔

Bad breath isn’t always caused by what you eat! Some common causes include:

🦷 Plaque and bacteria buildup
👅 Not brushing your tongue
🪥 Skipping flossing
💧 Dry mouth (not enough saliva)
🦠 Gum disease or tooth decay
🤢 Acid reflux
🤧 Post-nasal drip

The good news? Many cases of bad breath can be improved with good oral hygiene, staying hydrated, cleaning your tongue, and regular dental visits. If bad breath persists despite good oral care, it may be a sign of an underlying medical condition, so it’s worth talking with your dentist or primary care provider.

🦷 Myth vs. Fact Monday 🦷

❌ MYTH: “Baby teeth don’t matter because they’ll just fall out anyway.”

✅ FACT: Baby teeth play a big role in your child’s health! They help children chew properly, speak clearly, and hold space for their permanent teeth. Losing a baby tooth too early due to decay can sometimes lead to crowding and other orthodontic concerns later on.

Healthy smiles start early! That’s why regular dental checkups and good brushing habits are so important, even for the littlest smiles. 💙
