Dear patients, families and friends ,

We have some exciting news to share with you. Dr. Rinku Saini has been appointed as the Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry. This new role will mean significant changes for our practice in Concord. After much thought and consideration, we have decided to sell the Concord office. Both Drs. Schmitt and Saini have loved working here and we will miss you all.

We are very fortunate to have found the perfect person to continue giving your children the best possible oral health care in Dr. John Harrison. Dr. Harrison is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist and has been practicing in the same office in Tennessee for the past 9 years. He shares the same conservative, prevention-based treatment philosophy that you have all enjoyed in our office for many years. And thankfully, the core of our staff will be staying on to work with Dr. Harrison so you will still see many familiar faces when you and your children visit the office.

Dr Harrison met his wife, Michaela, in Nashville, and they are so excited to move closer to her family in Pleasant Hill. They have just welcomed their first child, Claudia, into the world, and they look forward to growing a family and embracing the East Bay community. Dr Harrison and Michaela are avid runners and like to stay active hiking, cycling, and walking their dog, Rigatoni. Dr Harrison is grateful to have the opportunity to earn the trust of you and your children, and he is committed to providing the same quality of oral health care you expect in the office.

The staff and Dr. Harrison look forward to seeing you all soon. He will be working full-time in the office seeing both Dr. Schmitt and Dr. Saini’s former patients starting Monday October 28th. Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions.

Dear Drs. Schmitt & Saini Pediatric Dentistry family and friends,
Please join me in congratulating our very own Dr. Don Schmitt as he achieved two significant milestones this year that fill our office with immense pride. Dr. Schmitt is currently serving as the 2023-24 President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and has also been appointed as the next Western District Trustee representing 11 Western States and 5 Canadian provinces on the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Board of Trustees for the term spanning 2024-2027. These roles are the latest recognition of a lifelong dedication that betters our profession, our practice, and our local community.

I can't help but think how proud Dr. Schmitt's father would be.

Dr. Leonard Schmitt, a pediatric dentist who founded our office in 1959, would undoubtedly be overjoyed to see how his son has not only carried on the family legacy but has far exceeded any expectations.

Dr. Schmitt's journey in dentistry began with an undergraduate degree from Cal followed by graduation from the Arthur A. Dugoni University of the Pacific Dental School. Dr. Schmitt then successfully completed his Pediatric Dentistry residency at USC. He later earned the esteemed titles of Diplomate from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Since 2001, Dr. Schmitt has been a devoted faculty member at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in the Pediatric Department.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Schmitt has dedicated himself to numerous organizations, having served as Treasurer and on the Executive Committee of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry for over ten years. He is also an active member of the Danville Rotary and is on the Danville Rotary Foundation Board.

This year, Dr. Schmitt's dedication reached new heights with two prestigious appointments that underscore his unwavering commitment to our profession. I am honored to be his partner in practice and our patients benefit from his leadership, his service to our community, and the office family he has created!
