Dental Tip Tuesday: Sealants are not just for kids

Sealants provide an extra protection for cavity-prone areas. Sealants are a thin protective coating placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where deep grooves can make it easier for food and bacteria to get trapped. Even with great brushing, those tiny grooves can be hard to clean completely.

That is why sealants may be recommended — they help create a smoother surface and add an extra layer of protection against cavities.

While sealants are commonly recommended for children and teens as their permanent molars come in, adults can benefit from them too, especially if they have deep grooves or are more prone to cavities.

If your dentist recommends sealants, it is because they are looking for ways to help protect your smile before problems start. 💙

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We are deeply thankful for the courage, dedication, and selflessness shown by all who serve and have served in the military.

This day is especially meaningful to our office as we recognize two of our own, Dr. Smith and Assistant Shay, who have both served and Shay continues to serve in the military. We are so grateful for their commitment, not only to our patients and team, but also to our country.
