OFSAC has been established in the Columbus area for 14 years, and Dr. Smeltzer has been practicing since 1999, with Dr. Masonbrink joining him in 2006, and Dr. Frey joining the team in 2016. Dr. David Smeltzer is originally from Northwest Ohio. He earne
d his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (D.D.S, 1995). Dr. Smeltzer continued his postgraduate training at The Ohio State University, completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency and earning his masters degree. In 2001, Dr. Smeltzer became a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition to his private practice, he holds an assistant clinical professorship with The Ohio State University Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he teaches future oral surgeons. Dr. Smeltzer is currently on staff at a number of central Ohio hospitals and is one of a handful of oral surgeons who maintains privileges and actively treats patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital. He is involved in managing all aspects of oral and facial surgery with a special interest in dental implant surgery and surgery for the pediatric and adolescent population. Dr. Monte Masonbrink was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. He attended Miami University where he received a B.A. in Chemistry. In 2002 he graduated magna cm laude from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry with a D.D.S. Following dental school, he entered a four year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at OSU. During the program, Dr. Masonbrink spent two months rotating at St. James Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and time doing mission work in Honduras. After completion of residency, he received a M.S. in Dentistry. Dr. Masonbrink participates as an assistant clinical instructor at the OSU and Maxillofacial Surgery program. Dr. Masonbrink is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the American Dental Association. He is also a member of both the Ohio and American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Timothy Frey was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He attended De Paul University where he graduated cm laude and played basketball. He then attended Indiana University School of Dentistry where he graduated magna cm laude and was valedictorian of his class in 1995. He specialized in oral surgery and completed residency in 1999 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. While there, he also earned his masters degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Frey has been practicing oral maxillofacial surgery since 1999. Dr. Frey is also an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University helping teach oral and maxillofacial surgery residents. Dr. Frey is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
