Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold to symbolize the idea of what is broken is not hidden. Cracks and flaws are transformed into something more beautiful and become part of the pottery’s story. These cracks, like in life, can be seen as golden seams that add depth and character. In life, this translates to embracing our imperfections as part of our identity and beauty.

We think of orthodontics as “beauty in repair and transformation”. Orthodontics allows us to create beautiful smiles that build confidence. We get to become part of each other’s story. How often should you clean your retainer? We recommend soaking your retainer in Retainer Brite or any effervescent retainer (or denture) cleaner a couple times per week. Retainers with wires can be brushed with a toothbrush, but be careful with the wires. To clean your retainer, rinse with cool water whenever it is removed. Remove your retainer to eat and to brush your teeth. Rinse well after drinking soft drinks or fruit juice.

We love to see all the fun places our patients have visited! At the start of treatment, patients are given a Dr. Z Orthodontics t-shirt to wear on any fun trips or activities. Then take a photo and send it in to us. The photo will be entered into our “Wear” in the World contest! Each year, we pick our favorite and most unique photo. Where in the world will Dr. Z Orthodontics visit next?

The world has gotten busy! Perhaps you resonate with this sentiment...many places we go feel impersonal, rushed, and over-the-top with upselling. We rarely get to talk with someone when calling a business, and the world seems impersonal. We call that the "storm".

If you were in a boat managing a severe storm, the sight of a lighthouse symbolizes the shore, safety, and something good. We try to be that "lighthouse in the storm". A personal place that believes in integrity and excellence. A place that believes talking and interacting with real people who care is better than automated answering systems and chatbots. We strive to be that one good stop in your day that makes you smile!
