The importance of early treatment!! 🦷 Did you know the American Association of Orthodontists recommends the first visit be to an orthodontist at age 7?

Not all children need treatment at this age but it is important to be seen to evaluate the development and eruption of the permanent teeth.

In this tragic example, a colleague of Dr. Boyle’s shared a chilling radiograph where the maxillary permanent canines were erupting out of position and severely resorbed the roots of the maxillary permanent central and lateral incisors (front four teeth). With this degree of resorption the prognosis for these 4 teeth is very poor and unfortunately may be lost 😔

If this were caught earlier and the position of the developing canines was seen, early intervention may have saved these 4 adult teeth!
