What is CBCT, and why is it different from a panoramic x-ray? 🦷🔬

A traditional panoramic x-ray, often called a pan, provides a single flat image of your teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures. While it is extremely useful for general evaluations, it only captures a two dimensional view.

CBCT, which stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography, takes imaging to the next level by creating a highly detailed three dimensional view of your teeth, bone, nerves, airway, and facial structures ✨ This advanced technology allows us to see areas from multiple angles with far greater precision and accuracy than a standard panoramic image.

We utilize CBCT in our practice because it helps us diagnose conditions more thoroughly and plan treatment with a higher level of confidence and safety 🙌 CBCT is especially valuable for dental implants, orthodontics, wisdom teeth evaluations, endodontic treatment, TMJ concerns, and identifying issues that may not be fully visible on traditional x-rays.
