These past few months have been extremely difficult for everyone, and as we slowly adjust to our “new normal”, I wanted to let our patients know about everything we’re doing to try to mitigate the risk if COVID. In addition to adding plexiglass barriers, we are doing temperature checks on all patients and requiring that they do an iodine rinse which we provide. The rinse has been shown to neutralize the coronavirus temporarily so that even if a patient is infected, they are less likely to spread it. All of our staff is being supplied with N-95 masks which, although not 100% effective at preventing exposure, are the most effective at providing an additional layer of protection for both the wearer and anyone nearby. We are using cold foggers and wiping down operatories between all patients. We also invested in two chair side portable HVAC units which have a triple filtration system as well as a UV sterilizing component. The unit has a suction arm which is placed at the patient’s chin to remove any aerosols as they are generated during treatment. I believe this is especially important since the CDC and WHO are now realizing that COVID can be spread through the air. There’s no way to completely eliminate the risks, but we feel each of these precautions will help to keep our office COVID-free. We hope this information and our ongoing efforts will help provide peace of mind to our patients as we navigate these difficult and scary times. Due to the American Dental Association advisement, we will be moving to emergency visits ONLY, hours of operation will change to 8am to 12pm, Monday thru Thursday. Please be advised of temporary changes. Regular hours and treatment will resume June 1, 2020. We want to keep our patients and staff safe and healthy during this trying time.
