We are honored to announce a $15 million gift from Bill Cornell Jr., DDS (DEN ’60), and Chloe T. Cornell, RN, the largest in the history of Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. This investment establishes the R. William Cornell, Jr., DDS and Chloe T. Cornell Oral Health Center for Individuals with Special Needs (the "Cornell Center") and creates the school's first endowed professorship in over 130 years.

The Cornell Center will address the regional shortage of specialized care for people with special healthcare needs. It will integrate pediatric dentistry, advanced general dentistry, craniofacial orthodontics and oral/maxillofacial surgery with medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social services and nutrition teams.

Seeing innovation in action 👀 Thank you to everyone who joined our student-led facility tours during Homecoming and Reunion Weekend!

Alumni had the chance to reconnect with campus and explore our high-tech learning spaces—including the Virtual Reality Classroom and Simulation Clinic Clinic—where CWRU dental students gain world-class, hands-on clinical experience every day.

We loved showing our graduates how their legacy continues to inspire the next generation of oral healthcare leaders!

Celebrating remarkable alumni achievement this Homecoming and Reunion Weekend 🦷✨

Alumnus Martin Nweeia (DEN '84) took us on a deep dive into his groundbreaking research on narwhal tusks! He explained how these marine mammals use their iconic tusks—which are giant, specialized teeth—as intricate sensory tools to traverse harsh ocean environments. It was an incredible look at how dental medicine intersects with wildlife biology and evolutionary science!

Cross-disciplinary insights at the forefront of health policy! 🩺🦷

Kicking off Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, we were honored to welcome Gregg S. Margolis, PhD from the National Academy of Medicine for the Dean Kenneth B. Chance, DDS Endowed Distinguished Lectureship!

Dr. Margolis delivered an inspiring presentation on developing the next generation of health policy leaders. Established by Kenneth B. Chance and his family in honor of the school’s 130th anniversary, this lectureship series promotes meaningful dialogue on overarching topics that connect dentistry, medicine, nursing and wider society.
