Wisdom teeth are the last to emerge, and they're the most tedious and trouble-prone. 😥
One associated problem many people face is the development of an operculum, a flap of gum tissue over the partially erupted tooth. Though common, it can lead to infection if left untreated. 😳
If you have an infected operculum, the first course of action is to clear the infection. Your DAG dentist can clean the area and prescribe an antibacterial mouth rinse or antibiotics. Then will check if your tooth is still emerging correctly. If it looks as though it hasn't erupted properly or if your infection is severe, your dentist may recommend a minor surgery, called an operculectomy, to remove the flap. 👍🏻
Book your appointment 📆 today if you're suffering from operculum. We’d love to help you out.
