My patient came to me wanting veneers — but I said no. Let me cook! 😂

AKA… let’s fix the foundation first, then see what we actually need.

After a few months of Invisalign, we had his teeth in a much better position. From there, we whitened, then added bonding only where it was needed — rebuilding the teeth that had been worn down and adding width to the ones that were a little too skinny for his new smile arch.

And when I’m doing cases like this, I’m always looking beyond just the teeth. A tight frenum can absolutely sabotage your final result, so we addressed that too, along with some gingival recontouring to finish the frame around his smile.

The best part? I was able to do every step of his treatment in-house, which meant I could control the details, the sequencing, and the final outcome without dragging out his timeline.

He came in asking for veneers.

He left with Invisalign + whitening + a frenectomy + gingivectomy + bonding on only 5 teeth.

Sometimes the best cosmetic dentistry is knowing when not to do more. 🤍

I should’ve been ordering room service in a robe by myself — but I was invited to join an evening of delicious food, stimulating conversations, and playing on art installations that lit the creative in me on fire 🔥. If you live in NYC they host this every month! Check out theentree.nyc.

Thank you to my Haitian sister Tajma Desir for all of your warm hospitality.

The dentists you admire most all have one thing in common — and it’s not talent.

Patients can’t see your margins or understand how great your preps are.

The only version of your work anyone sees is the photo — and if that’s an iPhone shot under harsh overhead fluorescent lighting, that’s the level people assume you work at.

The difference isn’t talent. It’s a documentation system your whole team can run. Every patient, every case, same quality — without the doctor touching the camera.

That’s what Andres E. Ponce and I are teaching in October. Two days at my practice in Houston, hands-on, with your team. 16 CE credits.

A few seats left. Comment “Course” if you want the details.

What Comprehensive Dentistry Means To Me ✨

Many of you know me just as a cosmetic dentist — but that does not capture the depth of examination I perform on my patients. I am quite aware that people tend to visit their dentist more than their primary care providers so I do my best to point out all the overlooked things that may cause issues down the line. As a person that strives to be the most healthy version of myself — I hope to share all I have learned in that pursuit with my patients. No gatekeeping.

So if you haven't been to the dentist in a while, and you don't know where to start, I might just be the dentist for you. I promise I won't judge. ❤️

Choosing a dentist these days is a lot like dating so here's my profile:

Green flag: I'm a research nerd.
Toxic trait: I'll talk you out of treatment you don't need.
Love language: Smiles that still look like you.

On a first date I ask a lot of questions and actually listen. You'll hear the whole plan in plain English before anything happens.

Bonus Points:
6 am gym girly, extremely into small details, can dance with fire and DJ.

What the slides don’t say: I put off getting help for way too long. I told myself I’d figure it out from posts and YouTube — meanwhile every case I didn’t document properly is a case I can’t show today. The gear wasn’t the expensive part. The years of guessing were.

That’s also me in slide 2 as the practice model, bite retractor and all. Everyone in that Miami room started somewhere.
And that room is why this course exists. Dr. Ponce (Andres E. Ponce) taught me the way I now think photography should be taught - standing next to you, camera in hand, not from a stage. That’s exactly what we’re doing in Houston, October 9-10.

Comment “course” and I’ll send you the details. Early bird ends August 7th.

Growing up I went to camp every summer for a month, so when back-to-school shopping came around, my mother had to do it for me because I wasn’t around. Then school came, and since I went to private school, I wore a uniform. Then undergrad came and I just loved thrifting, so who cares what you wear. Then dental school came and you’re always in scrubs.

Here’s the thing though — I always loved dressing for parties. Best dressed in the room, every time. It was the day to day I struggled with, often just not caring.

The only time I really enjoyed shopping was getting ready for festivals — so for most of my 20s, my fashion was mostly festival costumes lol.

Now in my 30s I’ve been really trying to find my style. Find what fits me. Understanding the balance between pieces that bring me joy and pieces that serve utility.

Fashion for me was never the labels. It’s how I feel when I put the clothes on, how they allow me to move and interact with others unrestricted.

To me, that is luxury.
