Brushing harder doesn’t mean cleaner teeth! 🪥

Plaque is soft and can be removed with gentle brushing and a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Too much pressure can damage your gums over time.

Be gentle. Don’t brush your gums away!

Meet Linda! 💗

Linda has spent more than 30 years in dentistry and has dedicated her career to helping patients feel comfortable and cared for. She started as a dental assistant before spending the next 25 years as a patient coordinator at the same practice. After officially retiring a couple of years ago, she realized she missed seeing patients and decided to join the Cactus Pear Dental family part-time!

If you’ve visited our office, chances are Linda has greeted you with a smile and helped make your visit as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Outside the office, Linda enjoys curling up with a good book and a glass of wine, gardening, taking impromptu trips with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren across the country.

We’re so happy to have Linda as part of our team! 🌵

One week down as Bearcats! 🦷📚

Our two future dental hygienists have officially completed their first week of school as they work through their prerequisites and toward their goal of becoming RDHs!

We’re lucky we still get to have them here at Cactus Pear helping with sterilization, X-rays, and gaining hands-on experience along the way.

Dr. O has always loved giving future dental professionals an opportunity to get their foot in the door, learn, and experience dentistry firsthand while working toward their goals, and we love getting to watch these two do just that.

We’re so proud of them and can’t wait to see where this year takes them. Wishing them both a great school year and another great week ahead! 💗💚

Over two decades in public health shaped the way Dr. Oberlander practices dentistry today.

And we think our patients feel the difference.

Public health dentistry is about looking beyond one tooth and asking a bigger question: How can we improve this patient’s overall oral health for the long term?

That mindset is a huge part of how we practice at Cactus Pear Dental.

It means talking about prevention. It means discussing options like fluoride, iodine, SDF and remineralization when appropriate. It means looking at your entire treatment plan, your ability to chew comfortably, your risk for future problems and, most importantly, what your goals are for your own mouth.

Dr. Oberlander believes patients deserve the facts, the options and the education to make their own decisions.

Sometimes that means treating something now. Sometimes it means watching it. Sometimes there are several completely reasonable ways to approach the same dental problem.

Our job isn’t to push you into treatment. It’s to help you understand what we see, what your options are, and the pros and cons of each one so you can decide what feels right for you.

And yes, we genuinely love second opinions.

Dentistry isn’t always one-size-fits-all, and treatment plans can vary significantly from one dentist to another. Getting another perspective can help you feel more informed and confident before making a decision.

Education first. Prevention whenever possible. Treatment when it makes sense for you.

Make sure your breath is fresh and keep your tongue clean! 👅✨

Your tongue can harbor bacteria that contribute to bad breath, so don’t forget to give it a gentle brush when you brush your teeth. 🪥

Meet Izzy! 🌵🦷

Today is an exciting day for Izzy as she begins her prerequisites at UC Blue Ash, working toward becoming a dental hygienist! She’s also a certified dental radiographer and loves gaining hands-on experience while caring for our patients.

When she’s not at Cactus Pear Dental, you can find her lifting weights, supporting wrestling at Oak Hills High School, or spending time with her pets.

We’re so happy to have Izzy on the Cactus Pear Dental team, and we’re wishing her the best of luck on her first day of school! 💗📚
