If fear of dry socket or anesthesia is keeping you from scheduling your wisdom teeth removal, you’re not alone. These are two of the most common questions we hear.

The good news? Dry socket is actually very uncommon, especially when you follow your post-op instructions we give to you after surgery.

He also shares what makes anesthesia at About Face Surgical Arts different. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive hospital-based anesthesia training, Dr. Khan is uniquely qualified to safely administer anesthesia while performing your procedure, allowing you to stay comfortable from start to finish.

Yes, jaw surgery can dramatically change your appearance, and many patients notice that transformation almost immediately.

But the cosmetic changes are only part of the story.

Jaw surgery is often recommended because it improves how your jaw functions and can help protect your long-term health. Depending on your diagnosis, it can:

• Improve your bite and overall function
• Reduce jaw joint (TMJ) pain and strain
• Protect your jaw joints from ongoing damage caused by a misaligned bite
• Help prevent excessive wear on your teeth
• Open your airway so you can breathe more easily
• Treat or improve obstructive sleep apnea
• Make eating, speaking, and chewing more comfortable and efficient

For many patients, the aesthetic transformation is the first thing people notice. The functional improvements are what can make the biggest difference in everyday life.

Every case is different, which is why a comprehensive evaluation is so important.
