🚀 Wow! You loved 🫶this! 🚀
Due to the overwhelming success of our last informational post, we’re bringing it back to the top of your feed! 📢 If you missed it—or just need a refresher on Fixed or "Permanent" retainers—here it is again. If you or a friend had a fixed retainer placed by Dr. Murdock in the past, there is no time better to have it removed.

The "Permanent" Problem
🛑 Still have a "Permanent" Retainer from High School? READ this.
We often think "permanent" means "maintenance-free," but that bonded wire behind your teeth may be doing more harm than good. If Dr. Murdock placed a fixed retainer on your teeth and it looks like the photo below, you can call or text the office to have it removed at no charge.
Here are 3 reasons why dentists may recommend they come OUT:
🦷 1. The Calculus Concrete Wall
Even if you floss perfectly, that wire acts as a scaffold for tartar (calculus) buildup. Over time, this hardens into a "concrete wall" that pushes your gums down, leading to silent recession and bone loss that you can't see until it's too late.
⚡ 2. "Active Wire" Syndrome
Metal fatigues over time. An old retainer can actually warp and become "active"—slowly twisting your teeth out of alignment or pushing roots through the gum tissue. It’s supposed to hold them still, but it might be moving them!
💔 3. The Invisible Break
The bond often breaks on just one tooth without you knowing. That single tooth is then free to drift, while the wire holds the others. By the time you notice the shift, you might need treatment again.
Switching to a custom clear removable retainer allows you to:
✅ Floss completely (no more threaders!)
✅ Scrub your permanent teeth 100% clean
✅ Protect against grinding at night
