Why can B&D Multi Y sinter so fast?
The key is the nano particle size and no binder/glue in the zirconia. Most zirconia has binders that burn off during sintering, and larger particles that take a lot more heat (Kcal) to get the center of the particle fully heated.
Multi Y is different.
The nano-sized particles heat all the way through very quickly because each particle is so small. The center gets hot fast, so the zirconia can densify much quicker and more evenly.
Since there’s no binder or glue burning off during the sintering process, more of the energy is going directly into sintering the zirconia instead of burning out additives.
That’s why Multi Y can fully sinter around 1350°C. By the time the furnace reaches max temp and hold time, the zirconia is already basically done sintering.
Another cool thing about Multi Y is the huge sintering temperature range. Different temperatures can help influence the final shade and esthetics, giving a lot of flexibility depending on the result you want.
