1) I’m too old for orthodontic treatment. No you probably are not. Ortho treatment is based on bone remodeling to move teeth into a new position. Bone remodeling occurs at all ages so age is not a limiting factor. However, if there are underlying conditions such as periodontal disease, bone disorders, healing disorders may prohibit treatment in addition to age.
2) Which is better: Braces or Clear aligners? Both can achieve desired alignment. Each method has its own advantages. Treatment time variations, patient compliance discipline, hygiene effectiveness, degree of misalignment are factors that would be discussed in deciding what is best for you.
3) What are restrictions or guidelines for those undergoing treatment? Braces=more dietary restrictions. Aligners can be removed for eating, are more comfortable and less visible. Braces require more diligent hygiene. Braces may be the only option for severe malocclusions.
