Did you know orthodontists sometimes put braces on when baby teeth are still present? 🦷 The AAO recommends an orthodontic consult no later than age 7 to detect problems such as severe crowding, missing teeth, crossbites, jaw issues, habits, and more. Early “Phase 1” treatment is problem-focused and can even prevent the need for extractions of adult teeth later on! ✔️

Finally got to see my original research article on the efficacy of attachments printed in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics !! Can I add “author” to my bio now?? 🙃

When I started my Master’s Thesis for orthodontic residency at Marquette University, I was DETERMINED to get it published in this journal. I chose a topic that truly interested me and that I believed my colleagues would want to know more about. I am a firm believer that if you put in the time and effort, you can accomplish anything!! Shout-out to the one peer reviewer that kept requesting revisions for humbling me and keeping me determined to get this bad boy accepted for publication 😂

If you stopped wearing your retainer, this probably looks familiar! Many of my patients have had braces in the past. I instruct all of my patients to wear their retainers “nighttime for lifetime,” or as long as they want to keep their teeth straight. They WILL relapse otherwise!!

The best 30th birthday a girl can ask for. Looking forward to a lifetime of adventures with my best friend!

For those who don’t know, Marc and I met in dental school and dated the past 6 years, 4 of those being long distance while we both completed our respective residency programs. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it!! I can’t imagine spending forever with anyone else. I love you, Marky Marc! 🤍

Lots of chills this morning... and not just from the snowstorm. ❄️

Feeling extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine this month. A big thank you to the scientists for developing the vaccine, to the healthcare workers and volunteers for administering it, and to those on the frontline for caring for patients with the virus every day. 🖤

I encourage all of you to get vaccinated when the opportunity arises. I did to protect my family, friends, patients, and myself. Here’s to herd immunity and a brighter year ahead!! Stay safe y’all !! 💉🦠
