A little Friday floss-osophy before you head into the weekend… 🧵
Ever flossed one particular spot and thought, “Well, that’s unpleasant”? Let’s talk about what your floss might be telling you...

It isn’t the floss.
The odor may come from bacteria, plaque, or trapped debris sitting between teeth, areas your toothbrush simply can’t reach. Cleaning between your teeth daily helps remove that buildup and can improve both gum health and breath.
If the smell repeatedly comes from the same area, especially with bleeding, tenderness, swelling, or a persistent bad taste, it’s worth having us take a look. Gum problems can develop quietly, without much pain.

“That surgery was years ago.”
“I didn’t think my dentist needed to know.”
We understand! When you’re coming in for your teeth, medications and past surgeries may not seem connected. But those details help us take better care of you.
Some medications affect saliva, bleeding or healing. Others can interact with medicines used during dental treatment. Your surgery history can also help us decide whether we need to coordinate with your physician.

And yes, this includes GLP-1 medications used for diabetes or weight management, such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound.
Some people taking these medications experience dry mouth. Saliva helps protect your teeth, so having less of it can increase your risk of cavities. Reflux or vomiting can also expose teeth to stomach acid. Knowing what you’re taking helps us recognize changes and offer support early.
You don’t have to decide what’s “important enough” to mention. That’s what we’re here for. No embarrassment, no judgment—just information that helps us care for you safely.
At your next visit, bring an updated medication list, or photos of the labels, including prescriptions, vitamins, supplements and anything you take occasionally.
And please tell us about surgeries, changes in your health, or new symptoms... even if you’re only here for a cleaning. We’re always happy to talk privately!

Let’s fill this box, Chelsea! 🎁

It’s not too early, and the time to give is now! Our Toys for Tots collection is underway at Elite, and every new, unwrapped toy can help make Christmas special for a child or teen in need.
We’re collecting through December 1, so please bring your donation soon. This gives us time to get the toys where they need to go and into the hands of families counting on them.
Drop off a toy Monday–Thursday, 8 AM–5 PM. You don’t need an appointment or have to be a patient... just stop by!

No purchase or additional dental treatment is required to enter through the Facebook methods. Entries are accepted from October 1, 2026, through January 1, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

One winner will be selected at random from eligible entries and announced January 4, 2027. Patient eligibility will be verified privately. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. The winner must respond within 48 hours of notification and arrange local pickup at our office. No shipping or cash alternative is available. Employees and their immediate families are not eligible.

Hello, October! 🍂 We have a few things up our sleeves this month.
Our new quarterly Roborock giveaway is coming, the staff are getting ready for their pumpkin decorating contest, and our hygiene team has some useful tips planned for National Dental Hygiene Month. There may be a little pop-up surprise along the way, too. 👀
