Bleeding around an implant is never something we ignore.🦷 🔍

Bleeding on probing is a significant clinical finding and often an early sign of inflammation around the implant. Unlike natural teeth, implants lack a periodontal ligament and have a different blood supply…making them more susceptible to rapid progression of disease.

What may start as peri-implant mucositis can quickly advance to peri-implantitis, leading to bone loss and potential implant failure if left untreated.

These gums aren’t inflamed from plaque…👀

This patient presented with bright red, inflamed gums that were painful and peeling. Something that didn’t improve with 3-month routine cleanings.

After evaluation and biopsy, the diagnosis was erosive Oral Lichen Planus.

Erosive Oral Lichen Planus is a chronic autoimmune condition that can affect the gums and oral tissues. It often appears as:

✨ bright red or shiny gums
✨ peeling or sloughing tissue
✨ burning or sensitivity
✨ discomfort when brushing

Because it can mimic periodontal disease, proper diagnosis is important so patients receive the right treatment and monitoring.

🚨 Healthy gums shouldn’t burn, peel, or stay persistently red.
