Why is multidisciplinary cleft care so important?
Cleft and Craniofacial care is about much more than surgery. As children grow, their needs evolve, requiring expert care from a variety of specialists throughout childhood and adolescence.
Our team is a multidisciplinary cleft and craniofacial team, which is considered the gold standard for cleft care. By bringing specialists together, we provide coordinated, comprehensive care that focuses on every aspect of a child’s growth, development, function, and well-being.
We are proud to be accredited by the American Cleft Palate–Craniofacial Association (ACPA), meaning our team meets nationally recognized standards for providing high-quality, patient-centered cleft and craniofacial care.
Each month, our multidisciplinary team comes together to discuss every patient and develop individualized treatment plans. During our team clinic, families have the opportunity to see multiple specialists in a single visit—including plastic surgery, ENT, speech-language pathology, audiology, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, genetics, nursing, physical therapy, social work, and other specialists as needed.
This collaborative approach improves communication between providers, reduces the burden of scheduling multiple appointments, and ensures that every member of your child’s care team is working together toward the same goals.
