Today marks 26 years of Inspired Dentistry of Charlotte. I woke up not remembering today was the anniversary of the practice. I arrived at the office to find flowers on my desk. I am so thankful for the people who have supported, encouraged, and stood by me.🙏🏾 I'm thankful for mentors and colleagues and of course, my amazing family of patients for trusting me with the honor & opportunity to care for them. Robin and I spent today providing complimentary dental care for some of Charlotte's most vulnerable. We don't treat kids routinely so today was particularly rewarding. Many of these kids had never been to a dentist before. Shoutout to TeamSmile, the Carolina Panthers , the sponsors and many volunteers for providing this opportunity. Today reminded me of goodness of mankind and humanity. Feeling blessed to be able to be a blessing!🙏🏾🙌🏽

This past week marked the 25th anniversary of Inspired Dentistry of Charlotte. The day came and went, and quite honestly... really didn't feel "different" or special at the time. I've had nearly a week now to reflect, and with each new day, the swell of emotions have ballooned. At times, on the cusp of tears. I am filled with gratitude for this journey.

I knew I was going to enjoy dentistry. I knew I would enjoy the unpredictable nature and challenge of running a small business. And I knew I would enjoy the creative space to live out my philosophical beliefs in the way I have chosen to care for my patients and my team.

I love dentistry. I love my patients (all 12,300+ of you guys...minus a few that caused me to to lose sleep, hair, stomach lining, and heart tissue). And of course I love my teams...TeamIDOC and Team Selden!💙

I recently came across the "Rules of the Campsite." It simply states,"Leave the campsite better than you found it." I'd like to think that when I hang up my surgical loupes for the last time, I would have left dentistry better than I found it. Here's to the next 25 years. Cheers!🙏🏾

Our Sweet Alice is back!!!! Life happens and most things change with time. What hasn't (and never will) is the love my team and I have for Alice and her late husband, Sir Richard. Nearly 25 years ago when I first opened my office, like most new businesses IT. WAS. SLOW in the beginning. So much so, that one day I had no patients so I decided to go to the FedEx up the street from the office and make hundreds of cards announcing the opening of my practice. I then drove around for hours and placed them in neighboring mailboxes. (Fyi...opening other people's mailboxes is illegal btw....🤦🏽😂)

Alice and Sir Richard were the ONLY people to respond to those announcements. Over the years, we've become family. Sir Richard and I would play scrabble during my lunch at times and let's just say he taught me to accept losing with a cheerful spirit.🤷🏾🤣

Fast forward...Alice moved not too long ago and at her last visit we hugged and surely dropped a few tears thinking that we would have to rely on soblcial media to keep in touch. We'll like I said before...most things change with time. And when the opportunity for her to return to Charlotte presented itself....she took it. Alice...you have no idea how excited we were to see you Monday. We've been missing you. 🙏🏾🙌🏽💙

Shoutout to Team NuCraft Dental Arts, Inc. for the "house call" last Friday. Words cannot express my gratitude. Even after working together for 20+ years I continue to be amazed watching a true artist 👩🏻‍🎨 and dental professional customize porcelain chairside for my patient. Thank you, Rhonda and Jacob, for making the trip from GA, loading up your equipment and supplies and delivering an absolute masterpiece!🖼🎨 My team and I are blessed to have such talented people to work with. 🙏🏽🙌🏽
