We are looking for 2 dental assistants to join our well established dental practice. You’ll ensure excellent customer service and lift basic dental tasks off the dentist’s shoulders. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients in the dental office
Prepare patients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
Sterilize instruments according to regulations
Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
Undertake lab tasks as instructed
Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
Skills

Proven experience as dental assistant
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
Understanding of health & safety regulations
Good computer skills
Excellent communication and people skills
Attention to detail
Well-organized and reliable
High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred, but not required
COVID-19 precautions
Personal protective equipment provided or required
Temperature screenings
Social distancing guidelines in place
Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place
Our office has 2 surgical air cleaners, PPE, and abide by the ADA pre-screening protocols for all patient's and employees.

We are looking for a Dental Hygienist in our East Lansing office to help treat patients and promote good oral health practices. What do Dental Hygienists do? Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You’ll help dentists decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies. As a Dental Hygienist, you should be reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. If you have a steady hand and great bedside manner, we’d like to meet you.
Responsibilities
• Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
• Sterilize dental instruments properly
• Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
• Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
• Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
• Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
• Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
• Take X-rays or dental impressions
• Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
• Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
• Monitor supplies
Skills
• Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
• Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
• Outstanding communication skills
• A patient and friendly personality
• Attention to detail
• Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
• Diploma in Dental Hygiene
• Valid licence to practice

Dear Patients and Friends,

Great Lakes Family Dental Group- Charlotte are proud to announce the addition of Dr. Vidya Sadasivan to our team.

Dr. Sadasivan is originally from Farmington Hills, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, after which she spent a year of service with AmeriCorps in Detroit. With an interest in biology and a passion for helping people, she chose to pursue dentistry as a hands-on way to serve her community. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the New York University College of Dentistry, where she enjoyed continuing to participate in community service opportunities throughout New York City.

After leaving New York, Dr. Sadasivan then returned to Michigan where she has been working in the Lansing area. She feels the most fulfilling part of her job is connecting with patients and showing them that going to the dentist can be comfortable and easy!

In her free time, Dr. Sadasivan enjoys reading, running, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in this ever evolving health crisis. We all miss your smiling faces here in the office and can't wait for the day we can see you all again. All patients that have an appointment scheduled between now and April 17th have been contacted. If you have not heard from us, know that we did not forget about you, it's a monumental task contacting everyone that has an appointment scheduled. Dear Valued Great Lakes Family Dental Group Patients...

Here at Great Lakes Family Dental Group we continue to monitor the constantly evolving situation related to COVID-19 and its implications for our patients, our staff, and our doctors. As of March 20, 2020 Governor Whitmer issued an executive order prohibiting non-urgent medical and dental care in our state indefinitely. This order was given to protect the health of our community and to preserve supplies of personal protective equipment for those fighting on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19. Here at Great Lakes Family Dental Group we take this order seriously. We have taken the following steps to protect you, our patient family and our staff:

Our office is closed until further notice. We will post information through Facebook and our email/text update system as we receive updates from the Governor's office and the Michigan Department of Health regarding a reopen date.

As always, our dentists will be available to manage dental emergencies throughout this entire closure. Please phone our office at 517-543-1840 if you have any concerns or feel you need to be seen. There are instructions on the voicemail on how to get in touch with our doctors. Special arrangement's will be made to promptly and safely provide urgent and emergency care to our patients.

If you have an appointment scheduled between now and April 13th we will be reaching out to you via phone and email to work on postponing your appointment. If you have an appointment scheduled in subsequent weeks, please stay tuned. We will be evaluating the situation on a week to week basis and we will do our best to ensure all patients receive timely communication as to the status of their appointments.

Once the order is lifted, we will do everything within our power to accommodate those patients impacted by the closure. We are fortunate to have a talented, caring staff committed to maintaining your oral health.

We recognize this is a challenging time for everyone on so many levels. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we all navigate through this crisis.
