SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL GUM CARE MONTH
The Impact of Gum Disease

High Prevalence: Periodontal disease affects nearly 47.2% of Americans aged 30 and older (roughly 67 million people).

Systemic Health Connection: Poor gum health is linked to wider health issues, including heart disease and diabetes complications.

Severe Complications: Left untreated, advanced gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss and bone loss.

Two Main Stages:

Gingivitis: The early, reversible stage marked by mild inflammation and occasional bleeding.

Periodontitis: The advanced, destructive stage where tartar accumulates below the gumline, pulling gums away from teeth.

Warning Signs to Watch For

Bleeding: Gums that bleed during routine brushing or flossing.

Discoloration and Swelling: Gums that appear bright red, swollen, or feel unusually tender.

Recession: Gums that visibly pull back, making teeth look longer.

Halitosis: Persistent bad breath or a sour taste in the mouth that doesn't disappear with brushing.

Structural Changes: Loose teeth or shifting in how your teeth fit together when you bite.

Daily Prevention & Care

Brushing Technique: Brush teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and quality toothpaste.

Daily Flossing: Floss thoroughly at least once a day to clear plaque from tight spaces your brush cannot reach.

Antimicrobial Rinse: Incorporate an antibacterial mouthwash to eliminate lingering bacteria.

Regular Dental Visits: Schedule routine cleanings and checkups so a dentist can remove hardened tartar before it causes damage.

Lifestyle Adjustments: Eat a balanced, low-sugar diet and avoid tobacco products, which severely increase the risk of periodontal infections.

Sue Ann is the best - by Richard Rossman

I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist; I've struggled with gum and teeth issues for most of my adult life. However, Sue Ann always goes above and beyond to ensure I'm as comfortable as possible.
Thank you,
