🦈 Shark Week Fun Fact: Kids Can Get "Shark Teeth," Too! 🦷

No, kids don't grow multiple rows of teeth like sharks—but they can go through a stage that's nicknamed "shark teeth!"

Here's what happens:
🦷 Kids have just two sets of teeth- 20 baby teeth followed by 32 permanent teeth.
🦷 Between ages 5–7, it's common for the permanent lower front teeth to erupt behind the baby teeth instead of directly underneath them. That's why it's called the "shark teeth" phase!

What should you do?
✔️ If the baby tooth is nice and wiggly, encourage your child to gently wiggle it until it falls out naturally.
✔️ If the baby tooth is still firmly in place while the adult tooth is coming in behind it, it's a good idea to schedule a visit with your pediatric dentist. Sometimes the baby tooth just needs a little help making way for the new one.
