Happy Monday Drill!

Meet one of our SC ASDA D3 Members, Shane Walker, Class of 2028! 🦷🦷

1. Hometown: Greenville, SC
2. School: Clemson University
3. When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist? My sophomore year of college, a class was offered about dentistry. As soon as I found out about how great it is to be on the other side of the dental chair, I fell in love with it!
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: fixed, ortho, and rpd
5. Hobbies: pickleball, running, walks around downtown chs, beaching as often as possible, and clash of clans
6. Pets: a 3 year old Berniedoodle named Marley back home in Gville
7. Favorite Resturant in CHS: Hank’s Seafood
8. Favorite sports team: anything Clemson and the Dallas Cowboys
9. Folly, Sullivan’s or IOP: Folly
10. Future plans after graduation: I am leaning more towards specializing (potentially ortho or perio) but that changes daily so pretty much all options are on the table right now!

Meet one of our SC ASDA D1 Class Representatives, Kate Duhe, Class of 2029! 🪥

1. Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA
2. School: LSU
3. When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist? Since I was younger I have always wanted to be a dentist. Shadowing different dentists during high school and college helped solidify that decision!!
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: Fixed Pros with Dr. Kirk! 🦷
5. Hobbies: trying new restaurants in CHS, hanging out with friends, going to concerts, and going to jibe with my besties (shoutout Grace and Gracie)!
6. Pets: None right now but definitely in the future!! 🐶
7. Favorite Resturant in CHS: Melfis and Pelato
8. Favorite sports team: LSU tigers!! 💜💛🐯
9. Folly, Sullivan’s or IOP: Folly
10. Future plans after graduation: I hope to apply to a residency!

3. When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist? I decided in 5th grade- mostly because I just enjoyed going to the dentist, but grew to love it through my shadowing experiences and never changed my mind!
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: anatomy, removable pros, ortho
5. Hobbies: dancing, reading, going on walks, hanging out with my friends!!
6. Pets: A dog named Molly!
7. Favorite Resturant in CHS: Rio Chico

10. Future plans after graduation: going to work as a general dentist!!

1. Hometown: Spartanburg SC
2. School: Clemson
3. When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist? During junior year of college! I knew I wanted to go into healthcare, and dentistry allows me to treat patients while building long term relationships.
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: pathology, pharmacology, operative
5. Hobbies: working out, reading, playing mahjong, going to the beach, trying new places in Charleston, dog sitting!!
6. Pets: 3 dogs! Goldendoodle, sheepadoodle, and a bernedoodle!
7. Favorite Resturant in CHS: Halls, Stellas, Rancho Lewis, Mondos
8. Favorite sports team: Clemson Tigers!

2. School: coastal carolina
3. When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist?
I decided I wanted to be a dentist when I began shadowing different specialties and realized dentistry is so much more than cleaning teeth as dentists can help restore someone’s confidence and quality of life. I knew I wanted to be apart of helping someone find their smile;)
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: fixed pros, ortho, and rpd
5. Hobbies: going to the river/beach, going on walks, and shopping🛍️

When did you decide you wanted to be a dentist?: I always grew up around great role models in the field, but seeing the impact it had on others secured it as how I wanted to serve.
4. Favorite subject at MUSC CDM: Anatomy, Immunology, or anything with a handpiece
5. Hobbies: Being outside, on the water, listening to live music, cheffing, playing pool, and being around good people
6. Pets: None yet, but a good pup one day
7. Favorite Resturant in CHS: The Pass (Italian Boy)
8. Favorite sports team: Tigers and Niners

10. Future plans after graduation: Get into private practice, settle down, and find a boat

SC ASDA had the best time at 2026 Lobby Day in Columbia yesterday! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to connect with our senators and the SCDA while advocating for the future of dentistry. Special thank you to Senator Tedder for welcoming us to the SC Senate, and to the SCDA for hosting us at dinner 💙🤍
