Myofunctional therapy is becoming an important part of creating healthy, lasting orthodontic results.

As orthodontists, we can straighten teeth and guide jaw growth. But for those results to last, we also need to look at how a patient breathes, swallows, and positions their tongue.

If habits like mouth breathing or improper tongue posture aren’t addressed, teeth can shift over time and airway concerns may continue.

That’s why we’re excited to continue learning more about the connection between muscle function, breathing, airway health, and orthodontics. The more we understand how these systems work together, the better we can support healthy smiles and long-term wellness for our patients.
