Dental trauma can happen in a split second, during sports, a fall, an accident, or an unexpected impact. 🦷

Even when a tooth looks fine on the outside, an injury may affect the tooth, root, dental pulp, or surrounding tissues beneath the surface.

That’s why prompt evaluation after a dental injury is so important.
An endodontist specializes in diagnosing and treating injuries involving the inside of the tooth and its root. With careful evaluation and treatment, we can assess the extent of the damage and, whenever possible, help preserve your natural tooth.

If you experience a cracked, fractured, displaced, or knocked-out tooth, don’t wait for symptoms to get worse. Act quickly and contact a dental professional.

At Ritter Endodontics, our goal is simple:
Save your tooth. Save your smile. 🤎

A cracked tooth isn’t always easy to see, but it can definitely make itself known. 🦷

Sharp pain when biting, sensitivity to hot or cold, discomfort that comes and goes, or swelling around a tooth may all be signs of a crack.

Because cracks can extend deeper into the tooth and affect the pulp, early diagnosis is important. An endodontist has specialized training to evaluate the extent of the crack, determine whether the pulp has been affected, and recommend treatment that may help save your natural tooth.

The sooner a cracked tooth is evaluated, the better the opportunity to protect it and prevent further damage.

😌 Relax. Breathe. Smile.

Did you know that Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, has been safely used in dentistry for decades to help patients feel calm and comfortable during treatment?

Whether you're feeling anxious about a root canal or simply want a more relaxing dental experience, nitrous oxide provides a safe, fast-acting form of conscious sedation. It helps reduce anxiety, minimizes gag reflex, wears off quickly, and allows most patients to return to their normal activities shortly after their appointment.

While nitrous oxide is safe for most patients, certain medical conditions, such as COPD or other breathing disorders, may make it unsuitable. That's why we always review your medical history before treatment to ensure the safest and most comfortable experience possible.

At Ritter Endodontics, your comfort is just as important as your care. If you have questions about sedation options before your appointment, we're happy to help!

🧟‍♂️ The Walking Dead Tooth... 🦷

Sounds like a movie... but it's actually something we see more often than you might think.

When the nerve inside a tooth dies, the pain may disappear, but that doesn't mean the problem is gone. A "dead tooth" can continue to harbor bacteria and infection, potentially leading to an abscess, bone loss, or even tooth loss if left untreated.

✨The good news? ✨

A root canal proper treatment removes the infected tissue, eliminates bacteria, relieves discomfort, and helps preserve your natural tooth for years to come.

Signs your tooth may have a dead nerve:

🦷 Persistent or severe tooth pain
🦷 Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers
🦷 Tooth discoloration
🦷 Swelling or tenderness around the tooth
🦷 A pimple-like bump on the gums

Don't wait until a small problem becomes a bigger one.

📞 If you're experiencing tooth pain or have been referred for root canal treatment, our team is here to help you save your natural smile.

🦷 Root canal treatment isn't always the end of the story, and that's okay.

Sometimes, even after a successful root canal, a tooth may need a little extra help to heal. An apicoectomy, also known as endodontic surgery, is a specialized procedure that removes infection at the very tip of the root while preserving your natural tooth.

At Ritter Endodontics, we use advanced technology and microsurgical techniques to treat persistent infections, relieve discomfort, and give your tooth the best chance for long-term success.

✨ Why an apicoectomy may be recommended
✨ What happens during the procedure
✨ What to expect during recovery

Our goal is always the same:

🦷 Save your natural tooth.
😊 Relieve pain.
💛 Restore your smile.

If you've been referred for endodontic surgery or have questions about your treatment, our team is here to help every step of the way.

📍Proudly serving patients in Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Mebane, and throughout the Triangle area.
