Ritter Endodontics Ritter Endodontics combines state-of-the-art advanced technology with compassionate care at our two convenient locations in Chapel Hill and Durham, NC.

Our mission is to offer uncompromised excellence in endodontic therapy and traumatic dental injury care. At Ritter Endodontics, we use the most advanced dental technology, including state-of-the-art Zeiss microscopes and cone beam computed tomography (CT scans), while providing a caring and warm environment. Ritter Endodontics is a patient-centered dental practice. All our exam rooms are equipped with modern ultra-comfortable leather patient chairs. For our patient's entertainment, we offer the capability of watching movies with our Cinemizer eyewear. We also offer Nitrous Oxide sedation for the anxious patient, so that getting your root canal done with us is a stress-free and painless experience! What is Endodontics? Endodontics is a specialized field of dentistry focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases or injuries that affect the pulp and roots of teeth. Root canal therapy is the most common endodontic procedure. Endodontics also consists of the diagnosis and treatment of dental pain and trauma-related dental complications. Endodontics is one of the nine specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. Dr. Alessandra Ritter is a member of the following professional organizations and study clubs:

Your tooth may not have a phone, but it definitely has ways of getting your attention.

Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, pain when biting or chewing, swelling, tenderness, or persistent tooth pain can all be signs that something needs a closer look.

🦷 Root Canal: Myth or Fact?

Root canal treatment has a frightening reputation but many of those fears are based on outdated myths.

Modern techniques and anesthesia are designed to keep treatment comfortable while addressing the source of tooth pain.

And when possible, root canal treatment can help save your natural tooth, preserve normal chewing and prevent the need for extraction.

Remember: if tooth pain suddenly disappears, that doesn’t always mean the problem is gone. An infected or damaged tooth may stop hurting when the pulp tissue dies, while infection can remain beneath the surface.

A cracked tooth isn’t always easy to see, but it can definitely make itself known. 🦷

Sharp pain when biting, sensitivity to hot or cold, discomfort that comes and goes, or swelling around a tooth may all be signs of a crack.

Because cracks can extend deeper into the tooth and affect the pulp, early diagnosis is important. An endodontist has specialized training to evaluate the extent of the crack, determine whether the pulp has been affected, and recommend treatment that may help save your natural tooth.
