Healthy Gums = A Healthy Smile
September is National Gum Care Month, a great reminder that healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy smile.

Did you know that gum disease can develop with little to no pain in its early stages? Regular dental checkups and professional cleanings help catch problems early and keep your gums healthy for years to come.

Signs to watch for:
✅ Red or swollen gums
✅ Bleeding when brushing or flossing
✅ Persistent bad breath
✅ Receding gums

If it's been a while since your last cleaning, now is the perfect time to schedule an appointment and give your smile the care it deserves.

Hey Penns Valley! If you’re heading to the Centre County Grange Fair Residents' Show, we hope you have an amazing week of tradition, food, and fun.

Quick “fair week” smile tips:
• Sip water between sweet treats
• Chew sugar-free gum after snacks (if you can’t brush)
• Don’t use teeth to open packages or bottle caps
• If a tooth is sensitive, skip the ice-cold + super-sugary combo

Enjoy the Fair—and if something feels off with a tooth before (or after) all the fair food, we’re here to help.

We are incredibly grateful for the many calls and messages we've received recently from individuals and families looking for a new dental home. At this time, our practice is unable to accept new patients. While we wish we could welcome everyone, we want to ensure we continue providing the personalized care and attention our current patients deserve.

We truly appreciate your understanding and are honored that so many people have considered our office for their dental care. We will share an update if new patient appointments become available.

Thank you for thinking of us,

The ZDC Team

Fresh breath is about more than mints — it starts with a healthy mouth.

Did you know it is National Fresh Breath Day? Here are 5 simple habits that make a big difference:

1) Brush 2x/day for 2 minutes
2) Clean your tongue (where odor-causing bacteria love to hang out)
3) Floss daily to remove trapped plaque and food
4) Stay hydrated (a dry mouth can worsen bad breath)
5) Keep up with regular cleanings to help prevent buildup and gum irritation
If bad breath is persistent, it can be a sign of gum disease, cavities, or dry mouth — we’re here to help you get to the root cause.

What do you think MYTH vs FACT 🦷?

Myth: Bleeding gums are normal.
Fact: Bleeding can be a sign of gum inflammation or gum disease—and it’s worth getting checked.

If you notice bleeding when you brush or floss, don’t ignore it. The earlier we catch gum issues, the easier they are to treat.
