For one of our patients visiting from out of state, that meant an unexpected root canal with sedation, on a tight timeline. Our team coordinated schedules across our endodontist and anesthesiologist to get it done in under 48 hours, so our patient could get treated and get home.

A root canal has a reputation it doesn't always deserve... Troy, our Chief People Officer and patient, came in expecting the worst BUT left telling us how easy the whole thing felt. Our dental assistants work to keep every visit calm and comfortable.

This patient came to Syrpes & Pangborn after experiencing ongoing discomfort from a root canal that had been completed at another office. Our team used 3D imaging and a dental microscope to identify canals that were missed during the original treatment. Those untreated canals were the source of her continued symptoms, and a re-treatment was needed to fully address them.

Root canal re-treatment becomes necessary when infection persists or when parts of the tooth's canal system are left untreated during the first procedure. Advanced tools like CBCT scans give our doctors a complete, detailed view of the tooth's anatomy before treatment begins, and microscopic magnification allows them to locate and clean every canal with precision. This combination of technology and specialized training is what makes predictable, thorough outcomes possible for complex cases like Laura's.

FYI: Most people don’t realize that a single tooth can have multiple tiny canals inside it. When a tooth needs a root canal, it’s important that every canal is found and treated. Sometimes those canals can be difficult to see with a traditional 2D X-ray.

That’s where CBCT imaging helps. It gives our specialty team a 3D view of the tooth, so we can see the full anatomy and treat the problem more precisely. Better visibility means better care and a better chance of saving the tooth.
