Full Circle Moment!

Madison Wilson first started her dental school journey at the clinic after graduating from Western Carolina University in 2023, working with us as a dental assistant. Our volunteer dentists took her under their wing to prepare her for dental school at LMU-College of Dental Medicine. Now, as a 4th year dental student, she is back at the clinic completing her clinical training, being mentored by the very same volunteer dentists.

In our rural mountain communities, barriers like transportation, cost, lack of dental insurance, and limited appointment availability can keep people from treatment until it becomes urgent. For many patients, Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic isn't just the best option. It's the only one.

Outreach August is in full swing! When dental care calls, we answer!

Madeline Potts spent Saturday on the Baptists On Mission Dental Bus, doing what she does best--spreading enthusiasm and assisting volunteer dentists. Our Executive Director, Kristen Gentry, helped get the word out about the clinic's services to our neighbors in Transylvania County and also caught up with some colleagues from SparkPoint and The Family Place of Transylvania County.

We are thrilled to receive the generous support of Mountain Findings of Highlands. This thrift store is amazing and clearly a community favorite--a line outside before it even opens. Items are well-curated and artfully displayed. But the best part? All proceeds go to hard-working, high impact community organizations.

We were star-struck by this post! Our own Madeline Potts received a scholarship to further her training in oral health as a Registered Dental Hygienist, with friends (aka our Kaitlyn Richmond) and family to support her.
